OStJust Write is written on a post-it taped to the inside of my computer. As I continue down the road of my own journey of self-development and discovery, I have challenged myself to wake-up each morning and JUST WRITE. These two words inspire me, even when I am feeling empty, to Just Write. I aim for twenty minutes each morning sometimes less, sometimes more, but I always walk away feeling better than I started. These blog entries are the product of following through on this commitment to myself. There is no rhyme or reason other than to Just Write. I am glad you are here. Perhaps I can inspire you to go more in the direction of vulnerability and curiosity of how this simple act can play a part in your overall well-being when YOU JUST WRITE .
The dawn of a new day is always an opportunity to begin again if you choose to see it as such. Today is the dawn of a new month and manifesting the ability to start anew seems a bit more tangible on days like this. Today is November 1st, 2021. The month of Thanksgiving and one of my personal favorite months. The beginning of a new month begets hope and opportunity. The ability to reset and leave your heavy behind if you choose to do so. Somewhere between an end and a new beginning lies vulnerability, truth and often, fear. As human beings it It is a natural coping mechanism to want things to stay the same. For when things are predictable, there are no surprises. When we are in control we can determine where we go from here and most likely we stay somewhere between complacent and merely existing. Safe, or giving ourselves the illusion of being safe. A shell of what we could be, pretty on the outside, but empty on the inside. When we are empty on the inside we are easily swayed, convinced on what we should feel, how we should feel, act, etc. A shell may appear to be strong, grounded, and solid, but when we are empty inside we are easily broken the moment we are faced with adversity. When we lack purpose the moment we are challenged we retract, retreat and often times we submit. Stuck somewhere between complacency and merely existing the status quo can often be a dangerous place. There are many outside factors to trick us that in this mentality we are winning, accepted, even admired. Things that appear to carry purpose such as money, house, cars, clothes influence us through advertising, peers, social status, news, etc. On the dawn of this new month I challenge you to sit in that uncomfortable state of an end and a the birth of a new beginning. Where will you go from here? What heavy will you leave behind? The heavy you hold may not have ended the way you anticipated, it does not have to. Sit in this moment of reflection and take the time that is needed to be at peace with the outcome of your heavy from your yesterday. Now, where will you go from here? Take a deep breath in and out and leave your heavy behind you and begin to let the light in. The light from a new day is your opportunity to begin to fill your shell. You may begin each new day empty and that is okay. As you continue to inhale and exhale begin to give purpose and new meaning to each breath. Breathing is constant, but will not last forever. We do not know how and when we will take our last breath so it is imperative that we make every breath count. By connecting breath with intention we are filling our shell with meaning, purpose and love. When we feel we have purpose, meaning and love we become stronger and know we are destined for greatness.
