Just Write Entry 18: Inhale 1,2,3,4,5. Exhale 1,2,3,4,5.

Just Write is written on a post-it taped to the inside of my computer. As I continue down the road of my own journey of self-development and discovery, I have challenged myself to wake-up each morning and JUST WRITE. These two words inspire me, even when I am feeling empty, to Just Write. I aim for twenty minutes each morning sometimes less, sometimes more, but I always walk away feeling better than I started. These blog entries are the product of following through on this commitment to myself. There is no rhyme or reason other than to Just Write. I am glad you are here. Perhaps I can inspire you to go more in the direction of vulnerability and curiosity  of how this simple act can play a part in your overall well-being when YOU JUST WRITE .



Inhale... 1,2,3,4,5 as you fill yourself up with words such as stillness, peace, calm. Pause as you let those words penetrate your mind and body becoming a part of you in this moment. Proceed cautiously here. In this stillness you are an observer, a wanderer of sorts. It is important you do not lead yourself where you want to go. With practice, I assure you will end up where you are supposed to be.  Perhaps you close your eyes here or leave them open. Maybe a candle burns before you as you stand (sit) in silence.  If you are like me, insert ear buds, turn on music that moves you in mind and allow yourself to turn off the world around you.  As you take in your first  breath open your arms out wide and swoop your arms upward, palms open and receiving as you visualize scooping up all of the positive energy that surrounds you. Open your chest and lift your face to the heavens. This is your first breath, but every intentional breath is healing, energizing, lifechanging if you allow it. If you are able go outside and be one with your surroundings and experience the physical world around you. The fresh air crisp, cool or warm, how does it feel on your face. When is the last time you sat in a moment long enough to ponder that question and experience the crisp, cool or warmness on your body? This is the beginning of a new day, YOU are beginning again. Each day is an opportunity to begin again and it begins here.  Have the words you chose to fill yourself up begun to make their way into your new moment?  As you begin to make your descent with your first exhale bring your focus to ridding your body and mind of what no longer serves you as you begin your journey into your new day.  With eyes open or closed or somewhere between the two start to exhale chaos, busyness, disturbance. Let your head hang heavy here at the end of your exhale and visualize these emotions falling out from your head, your fingertips, mind and body as they fall to the floor. As you do it is as though you physically become lighter in body and mind. Relax your jaw and focus on leaving your heavy behind. Flushing out toxic words, phrases, thoughts and creating space for what you will be bringing into your new moment.  One vertebrae at a time begin to make your ascent back up to standing. I have been here before, I know you have already changed, but can you feel it yet? Once more, Inhale...stillness, peace, calm 1,2,3,4,5. Standing up a little taller here, perhaps widen your stance and ground your feet to what is beneath you. Grounded in body will help steady you in stillness.  Maybe you have begun to feel it too as you begin to swoop your arms and once again scoop up all of the offerings of your surroundings. Open your chest once again, but this time open your heart to the energies that have begun to wrap around you in THIS moment.  Allow it and feel it.  More intentional this time. Take what you want. Once again leave your heavy behind and what no longer serves you in this moment. As much as you want to take control of your mind and thoughts, continue to be the observer allowing yourself to wander to places you have never been before. Feeling a bit of discomfort here? This is exactly where you should be. Discomfort is your mind and body letting you know you are moving, evolving, changing  in this new moment.  Allowing yourself to feel everything and pick and choose to rid anything that leaves you feeling dissatisfied. As you begin to make your second descent 1,2,3,4,5 exhale agitation, noise, commotion. Once again, without taking control focus your new energy on flushing out these emotions as they no longer serve your mind or body in this new moment. 

I have set the stage for you, but this is your performance. You can take it from here. Trust yourself. Oh, the places you will go without ever taking a physical step; enjoy the journey in this NEW day and every NEW day thereafter.
