Just Write is written on a post-it taped to the inside of my computer. As I continue down the road of my own journey of self-development and discovery, I have challenged myself to wake-up each morning and JUST WRITE. These two words inspire me, even when I am feeling empty, to Just Write. I aim for twenty minutes each morning sometimes less, sometimes more, but I always walk away feeling better than I started. These blog entries are the product of following through on this commitment to myself. There is no rhyme or reason other than to Just Write. I am glad you are here. Perhaps I can inspire you to go more in the direction of vulnerability and curiosity of how this simple act can play a part in your overall well-being when YOU JUST WRITE .
It is our responsibility to recognize opportunity wherever it surrounds us. Where there is opportunity there is possibility. When there is possibility we invite our minds to explore and let our imagination and creativity take up more of our headspace. When our imagination is stimulated there is this subtle shift that begins to take place. What would you be doing right now if given the opportunity? Take your time. Be still in your body and allow your imagination to take the wheel and simply be a passenger along for the ride. You say you have no time for play, creativity and such activities that would fill your heart and soul. When was that decided, at what moment and by whom? Energy flows where your focus goes. Continue to be still in body, but moving in mind as you sit back and allow yourself to be a passenger, an observer of your thoughts, wherever it takes you. There is no final destination, rather just pit stops along the way reminding you of who you once were. Allow yourself to reflect for purposes of reconnecting to yourself fifteen minutes ago, fifteen years ago. There is no rhyme or reason where the road leads, just simply practice restraint as you continue to let your mind take the wheel. Who you once were before you became a partner, spouse, parent, employee, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. All of those parts of you I suggested and what you added to it just now are important and a part of what makes you whole, but they are simply parts of you. Who are You? When you are not just going through the motions? Who are you when you are not trying to please others? Who are You when you sit alone in your thoughts just as you are now. Imagine who you want to be in this moment, on this day and then do better to be her or him. It is that simple and that can be so hard I know. We have a tendency to overcomplicate so many things, possibly everything, but your best self is waiting for you. The possibilities of who you want to become are limitless and so are you. Your focus goes where your energy flows. When you create time to be still in body and let your mind wander you may find the road that will lead you back to yourself. Back to yourself in mind is progress. From there, it is up to you to take action. Where imagination meets you and a life full of possibility awaits you. Open your eyes, take back the wheel in mind and body and be the person your mind knows you can be, if you allow it.
